IIRC, the 195cc version was 23-500-65-1 or 72-1 depending on chamber size. That is a 4.155 bore. 280 is the bare minimum for .500 lift and 2.080 valve. If you don't have that something is goofy. 295 @ .500 is an achievable flow number by most head porters. Too bad you couldn't use an LS6 head!

With 400 cubes you'll be fine with the 215's and they'll also work better than the 195's if you ever can afford to build more motor.
