WebOct 10, 2024 · Today we celebrate Fiji Day. The day when we commemorate two very important historical events in Fijian history. On this day in 1874, Fijian Chiefs ceded Fiji to Great Britain. Many years later, in 1970 on this same day, Fiji gained independence from Great Britain and Fiji started its new journey as an independent nation. WebCOMMONWEALTH DAY 2024 CELEBRATED IN FIJI. A key program featured this week has been the Commonwealth Day Celebrations 2024. A official event was held at the State House on Monday this week to recognise and celebrate Fiji’s great partnership with Commonwealth.
